Review: Soccer Taco has serviceable food, moderately nice prices

Soccer Taco Mexican Sports Bar is the place to go if you’re craving authentic Mexican Cuisine. Located in Market Square, it’s also an excellent place to go to have a good time with your friends while watching the biggest games on 10 or more flat-screen satellite televisions.

Mainly you will find soccer games on, as the name suggests soccer is a sport of importance around there. Still, the restaurant will surely show baseball, basketball and football, when each season begins again.

The menu consists of appetizers like Super Bowl Nachos, soups like La Basica, Sopa de Pollo (chicken soup) and hamburgers like the Volunteer Burger, a hamburger paying tribute to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. However, this hamburger appears to only be available during the U.T. football season.

Soccer Taco’s chimichangas and burritos are sure to please even the most critical of customers as well. Prices range from $8.49 to $9.49.

Vegetarians do not go unaccounted for either. Soccer Taco offers foods like Patriots, grilled tortillas stuffed with cheese and a choice of spinach or mushrooms. The Patriots dish is served with rice and beans. It is priced at $7.49.

The restaurant’s bar has a variety of drinks to consider, including 2011’s BEST margarita. Domestic beers are sold for $2.95, while import beers are sold for $3.75.

When the weather heats up a little bit, Soccer Taco offers outdoor patios to share food and drinks with family and friends.

Soccer Taco has two other locations in East Tennessee. One is in West Knoxville, while the other is in Maryville.

Overall, the restaurant does enough to satisfy. The food and drinks are not overly pricey, and you will be sure to have a decent time while there.
