When "Sharknado" premiered it made people go into a frenzy and the TV film even got a chance to be seen in theaters. Year later, "Sharknado 2: The Second One," came around. Anthony C. Ferrante directed both movies.

Well tonight, July 30 at 9 p.m. EST this second movie premiered on Syfy. The sharknado is in New York this time. They destroyed Manhattan better than Jason Voorhees did.

Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, Mark McGrath, and Vivica A. Fox are the cast of the movie, and there are many more cameos to boot. Everyone seemed to be on this b-movie. It's "The Wizard of Oz" meets sharks.

When the movie first starts off it's an intense airplane scene, where the sharks attack the plane. The scene even adds a little "Twilight Zone" to it, the episode where William Shatner goes crazy on the plane because of the gremlin. Well anyway, Reid and Ziering's characters vacation takes a dirty turn fast, and that's good for the movie. It has a good pace, which works for these kind of movies, also when they don't take their own movie serious, that helps too. We don't take it serious, we know it's going to be bad, but we like it that goes for this movie.

We also get to meet the sister of Ziering's character and her family. Mark McGrath is the brother-in-law. Well there are even scenes from the "Today Show," "Weather Channel," and "Live with Kelly and Michael," to add that 'realistic' touch. Though really does this movie need a realistic touch... Love how Al Roker is seriously giving 'viewers' tips and how sharknados can happen.

The movie is graphic, one lady gets her face basically eaten off by a shark. They even hang out in the sewer systems, yes one shark even eats an alligator that lives in the sewers. That's one really neat scene too. They also hang out in the subways. You really can't run away from a sharknado or its theme song.

Worst comes to worst when the city decides to flood in the last 45 minutes of the movie. Can someone say tension? That it sucks for these people and it doesn't even matter if you can swim, who wants to swim with sharks in the water?

What the movie also teaches you is riding on bikes away from sharknados aren't exactly the most efficient way. That you have to low tolerance and if you do, you'll enjoy this. Acting isn't prestige but it works for this kind of movie. Probably though better than most recent Hollywood blockbusters.

The sword scene is epic, did someone ask for sushi on set? Sharks can use elevators well sharknados can and burning sharks aren't necessarily a good idea when they fall on people.

The ending 20 minutes as Al Roker telling everyone this is biblical proportions and Finn (Ziering) knows what he has to do, let's just say he gets his inner Ash Williams and kicks some butt. April (Reid) also does a pretty intense killing scene Ash style. Moral of the story is power tools sometimes to help save lives. Also townspeople will fight back if provoked and it's not even safe if you're a talk show host.

What to take from this is, well don't take it serious and its no "Jaws," but it's its own blockbuster and fun. Really these movies just scream summer! Especially how excited the masses it about it. It's already a cult classic and takes one back to the monster disaster movies from the 50s with a little 21st century twist. It's nostalgia with a twist.

If you missed it, it's going to reair on Saturday, both films starting at 5 EST.

Call me a lover of bad movies but this cult soon to be classic gets four stars. It's just fun and cheesy shut your brain kind of movie. Is that so bad? No, because these kind of movies make bad days just better.
