Greek To Me, located on Delaware Avenue just south of Sheridan Drive, is the home of Kenmore's Original Garbage Plates. You can get anything on the menu, made to order, all day long. Greek To Me also serves beer and wine.

On a recent visit to Greek to Me we tried the wedge salad ($3.99), which is a nice big wedge of fresh iceberg lettuce drizzled with a house made blue cheese and balsamic vinegar dressing. Topped with blue cheese crumbles and fresh made bacon bits, this salad is enough for two to share as an appetizer.

Another great appetizer is the tzatziki and pita with Greek olives ($3.99). Enough for two to share, the pita are lightly toasted and plentiful, served with a delicious helping of house made tzatziki and tasty Kalamata olives.

The companion chose the Greek To Me 10-ounce boneless, skinless, hand battered haddock fish fry ($9.79), which came with choice of two sides. Sides to choose from: coleslaw, macaroni salad, potato salad, chef salad, French fries, home fries, curly fries or sweet potato fries. Onion rings can be chosen for an addition 99c. The companion wisely choose the coleslaw and sweet potato fries with butter and honey. While not house made, the coleslaw was still good, creamy and flavorful without the tinny taste of most commercial coleslaws. The sweet potato fries were not hand cut, rather frozen crinkle cut fries. They were tasty, but could have used an extra few seconds in the fryer to make them a bit more crispy. The fish fry is hand battered with a crunchy tempura batter. The companion enjoyed the taste, and the fish was deliciously moist and flaky on the inside.

This Examiner chose the almost famous hamburger garbage plate ($7.59), interested in seeing what all the fuss was about. Never having tried a garbage plate, we found we were in for a delectable, if not messy, treat.
The hamburger garbage plate, which can also be a hot dog garbage plate, consists of two burgers topped with French fries or home fries (we chose home fries), then topped with Texas sauce, mustard and chopped onions. Serves with choice of potato salad, macaroni salad or coleslaw and Italian bread. Add cheese for 50c more. We chose the potato salad and while not house made, it was very good for a commercial potato salad.
Warning, if you don't like Texas sauce, the garbage plate is not for you. Hot and tasty, the burgers were juicy, the Texas sauce sloppy, and the mustard and onions only added to the satisfying meaty, saucy sloppy garbage plate experience.
Other garbage plates available: chicken finger garbage plate ($8.59), and is the same thing, but with chicken fingers. Also available, the steak hoagie garbage plate ($8.59), which has a slight difference. Steak, cheese, homemade hoagie sauce, French fries or home fries, Texas sauce, mustard and onions. Both served with same choice of sides and Italian bread. Add cheese for 50c.
Other items we have tried on other visits to Greek To Me:
Onion rings ($3.29) hot and crispy, but not house made.
Sloppy fries ($3.79) French fries, hot and crispy, topped with cheese and Texas sauce. You are served a huge plate of these fries, bring someone to share them.
4-piece fried chicken dinner ($9.99), saved with choice of potato, coleslaw and two buttermilk biscuits. The companion liked the fried chicken, but said it wasn't anything special, but it was tasty and really liked the buttermilk biscuits.

All breakfast items are of excellent quality. We recommend the souvlaki or gyro omelet, made with feta and tomato ($7.79), and ask for Vince's Own cucumber sauce on the side.
We also recommend the Veggie Delight omelet ($6.99), made with mushrooms, peppers, onions, broccoli and tomato. Add cheese (we recommend feta) for 50c.
All omelets are served with home fries and toast, sliced tomatoes can be substituted for the home fries at no additional charge. Fresh fruit can be added for 79c.
Choice of toast include: white, wheat, rye, pita, sourdough and Italian. Bagels, English muffin or hard roll add 30c. Egg beaters available upon request, add 75c.

Soups vary daily ($2.79 cup, $3.79 bowl), check the website or Facebook page for daily soup and specials. Chili is served in season ($3.99 bowl).

Overall Greek To Me has great food, very good service, and good value for the money. The portions are on the large side, and some entrees can be shared by two. The staff is warm and welcoming and will keep your coffee cup full.
