Comedian Nick Lavallee's new CD/DVD and digital download, The Other Dude, was released today, much to the delight of New England comedy fans.
The CD, which consists of musical comedy and stand up performances (along with their accompanied videos on a special included DVD) features 45 minutes of hilarity that, will not only have you laughing hysterically, but singing along intently as well.
New Hampshire native Lavallee has appeared alongside Sally Struthers in "I Love You, Sally Struthers" - meaning your mom will also like him (if she's okay with his naughty language). Voted "Best Comedian" in 2010 and 2011 by readers of New Hampshire's Hippo Press, his earlier albums debuted in the top 50 of iTunes Comedy charts.
Lavallee’s online content has amassed over 30,000 views in a short time, garnering attention from Funny or Die, Rooftop Comedy and the Boston Comedy Examiner. He has performed opening spots for such national headliners as Comedy Central's Bo Burnham and Maine's King of Comedy, Bob Marley, and was just recently selected from hundreds of entertainers to perform his 30-minute comedy show this April at ImprovBoston's Geek Week (schedule to be announced in March).
The Other Dude combines well-made, catchy pop tunes that feature accompaniments by MC Lars, Noelle LeBlanc and Tristan Ormand, with intermittent spots of Lavallee’s signature stand-up that touches upon everything from life in Laconia, NH to thinking of the most offensive things to say to strippers. Having had the unfortunate experience of hearing T.J. Miller’s Extended Play EP, Lavallee’s precise mix of funny-yet-musically-good songs sprinkled with jokes proved to me that the fake-rap/comedy thing can, in fact, be done well.
The CD/DVD was made possible by Nick's fans and friends contributing funds through Kickstarter, a new way for creative projects to come to fruition. The Other Dude is available at Newbury Comics, Bullmoose Music and for download on iTunes and Amazon.
The Other Dude will celebrate with release parties throughout February in three different states, all of which, Lavallee hopes, will raise money and awareness for The Zachary Tompkins Fund, a local non-profit that is raising funds to build a youth-athletic complex in Hudson, NH.
