I recently took my daughter and two of her friends to Boomers in Boca Raton, Fla. The girls, all 13, loved the arcade, go karts, bumper boats, rock climbing wall, laser tag and more. In fact, they loved it so much they begged to stay all day, which meant we had to stay for lunch.

Lunch at Boomers is typical concession stand food. You order at a counter in the arcade area and pick up at a window outside, where there are plenty of picnic tables. Offerings include hot dogs, cheeseburgers, giant soft pretzels, churros, frozen Coke slushies, chicken tenders, fries and nachos.

The girls all had cheeseburgers and fries. They each had a slushie to drink – blue raspberry, pina colada and Coke were their flavor choices. They drenched the food in ketchup and deemed it “fine.” They ate quickly and went back to playing.

I had the deluxe cheese steak with fries and a soda. It was called deluxe because it came with lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was okay at best.

The four lunch combos at Boomers cost me $48.
