Lazy J Coffee, located at 571 South FM 548 (suite 120) in Forney, has brought quality coffee to the South side of town. Lazy J is the first resident of the new shopping center at FM 548 and FM 741. The location is close to Forney High School and the Forney Community Park.
Lazy J opened their doors on Nov. 9 and sold over 100 cups of coffee for their grand opening. They have been welcome with open arms by Forney residents who had no coffee shop options south of Hwy. 80. The interior of the coffee shop is very clean and comfortable. The walls are a mocha color and it goes well with the décor of coffee and Texas related items. There are 10 tables and the shop is very spacious and inviting to the customers. They have free magazines to read if you want to sit down and enjoy your Cup O' Joe. There is also a corner of the shop set up for small kids so that their parent’s may relax a bit. A flat screen TV adorns the main wall of the shop and there is free Wi-Fi!
The variety of coffee flavors is ample enough to suit even the pickiest customer. They also sell a variety of tea drinks and smoothies. As soon as The Hole Thing donut shop opens two doors down, Lazy J will be carrying some of their donuts and pastries and the donut shop will carry Lazy J coffee. That’s the Forney way, work together for the betterment of everyone.
My favorite drink is the mocha latte with caramel drizzled on top. Just delicious. The only thing that may be better than the coffee is the fact that the Lazy J prices are on average, 25 percent cheaper than Starbucks. The 16 oz. version of my latte cost $3.50 after tax. The staff is friendly and fast and is willing to make your coffee however you want it. The owners, Donna and William Grice, have created a punch card so that repeat customers can earn free coffee. For every nine cups you buy, the 10th is free! They also offer a 10% discount to police officers, firefighters and teachers and if it’s your birthday and you bring your ID, you’ll receive a free 12 oz. coffee.
If you are in the area, I’d definitely recommend stopping in for a cup of coffee at this new neighborhood gathering spot!
*Update: Lazy J is now selling gift cards and per the owners, "Lazy J Coffee has a senior discount on a small cup of regular coffee M-F 6-10. .75 cents for a 12 oz coffee and as long as you sit and drink in the shop, your refills are free!"

Friday- 5am to 9pm
Saturday- 6am to 9pm
Sunday- 6am to 6pm (*They are closed on Sunday's in the winter months*)
