Review: Ft. Laurderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort and Spa
The Ft. Laurderdale Marriot Pompano Beach Resort and Spa makes a guest feel VIP from the moment they arrive. Located at 1200 North Ocean Boulevard, Pompano Beach, Florida, the 194 room, 25 suite hotel, offers guests a variety of amenities to go with their beautiful rooms and excellent service.
On site and valet parking comes with a $25 a day fee, steep, but well worth the amenity. Not only do guests have piece of mind that their car is secure, but the valets themselves are invaluable to someone not familiar with the area. They offer suggestions on dining and entertainment along with detailed directions. During our stay we found them a great asset.
The hotel offers seven meeting rooms all with internet access. Guest rooms have high-speed wireless internet for a fee. Check email or browse the web for $5.95 a day or video chat, stream video and download large files for $9.95 a day. The lobby and other public areas offer complimentary wireless or wired internet access.
We were in Pompano Beach for the Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) Annual Conference. I had the honor of giving a workshop on social media platforms and making them effective and efficient. Right in the middle of the class my power point presentation decided to go on vacation too. Thanks to the fast thinking of my fellow facilitator and the Marriott’s quick responding internet access I still had visual aids to pull up right from the web to continue with the class barely missing a beat.
Access in the room has been just as fast and responsive as the public access downstairs. If your stay is for more than one day you only have to sign into the resorts network once, afterward every time you open the device you’re connected. You can connect up to 4 devices per room.
On site amenities include two outdoor pools, whirlpool, Oceanfront fitness center, and a spa by appointment only for a bit of extra pampering after a long day relaxing on the beach.
Beach access is just a step outside the pool area. There are volleyball courts, a refreshment bar, and children’s play area just beyond the pool gate for guest enjoyment.
Along the beach within a short walk guests can rent ATVs, kayaks, parasail and more from beachside vendors.
The hotel offers two dining choices McCoy’s Oceanfront full service restaurant serving American, sea food cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. McCoy’s Oceanfront Cocktail Bar and Lounge offers a similar menu American menu with an domestic and imported beer, wine and cocktails.
The fact there were two restaurants is slightly misleading in a way. The restaurant is located on one side and the bar and lounge on the other side of the same space. The only difference was the bar area had the high smaller tables and chairs, where as the restaurant was set for formal dining. However the food was delicious and served promptly, hot and fresh. The restaurant staff as warm and friendly as the hotel staff, creating a great dining experience.
The luxurious rooms are filled with everything a guest on vacation or visiting on business needs. All rooms have a mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, robes, iron and ironing board, down and foam pillows on the beds, safe, and a 42 inch color television. In the bathrooms, guests will find a variety of lux toiletry products for use.
Our room was an ocean view on the eighth floor. From the balcony we watched beach goers and the many boats and ships on the ocean as well as enjoying the sea air and sounds of the waves crashing.
The room was large and very clean. Every inch was attended. The bed linens were clean and comfortable. There were plenty of outlets easily accessible for computers, phone chargers etc. My only complaint of this fantastic space was the bed itself, the mattress was over firm. I overheard other guests during my stay state the same. Otherwise the room itself was comfortable and inviting.
Every employee we had contact with at the hotel had a friendly smile. Every question or request was met with that smile and helpful attitude, we felt valued and knowing that the staff cared about guest comfort allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip a little more.
If your travels take you to south Florida and the Ft. Laurderdale Pompano Beach area I would highly recommend the Ft. Laurderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort and Spa.
