From the somber modified opening credits to the end scene with Bobby Ewing drinking in his room, "Dallas" took fans on an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end in this week's episode. The acting was stellar as usual in this episode and the reemergence of all of JR Ewing's enemies and ex-wives made for some interesting scenes.
One of the best scenes had to be Christopher and John Ross once again joining forces to fight against two funeral crashers who had harsh things to say about JR. They seemed to share a sentimental moment at the bar talking over the fight and later at the gravesite. The scenes almost make you forget that these two are often at odds personally and professionally.
Other memorable moments included Sue Ellen's breakdown at the gravesite while reading JR's letter which was also heart wrenching and well acted by Larry Hagman's real life friend Linda Gray. Also, Emma's hookup with John Ross seemed to come out of the blue and probably will have some lasting effects on the Ewing family. It was easy to see why this episode garnered such high ratings for TNT.
"Dallas" showrunners have capitalized on the infamous "Who Shot JR?" plot line by introducing the new mystery of "Who killed JR?". The previews tease that it will be a much bigger plot than anyone would ever imagine and clues will be given every week to keep viewers guessing. Although it comes off as stealing from the format that has made "Scandal" so famous, it is sure to keep viewers engaged and keep the legend of JR Ewing alive.
