My Review:

Blue Notes is a New Adult romance coming out next month. It's by author Carrie Lofty – someone who is new to me. Blue Notes is a powerfully romantic story between a young college woman named Keeley and rich CEO named Jude. This book almost partially reminded me of Fifty Shades of Grey (except better written). People may think that I'm crazy for the comparison – and for the record, I loved Fifty Shades. There is no BDSM, no “kinkery”... but other things reminded me of it. Especially Jude. He runs a multi-million dollar company and he's only in his twenties. He's arrogant, successful, sexy, mysterious... He can be a jerk sometimes, but under all that is a guy with great qualities who just wants to be loved for who he is. Then we have Keeley – naïve, unsure of herself, college student, virgin... Who does that sound like?

The feel of this book may remind me of Fifty Shades, but the storyline is different. Keeley has had a horrible childhood. Her dad is in prison for killing her mom, and she was adopted by her foster parents. She has reason to feel like she needs to keep looking over her shoulder. She has a new identity and is starting new at a college in New Orleans, though she has to keep her past hidden. She is a talented piano player, and her music plays a big part in the storyline. When Jude first hears her play, he can feel the emotion in her music. He finds her very intriguing, but he comes off as an arrogant jerk when they first meet.

There is a lot of sexual tension in this book, and the love scenes are HOT. Not too erotic. Just...perfect. I felt a lot of emotions while reading this. I love when a book makes me FEEL. I thought the first half of the book was a little on the slow side. Everything is from Keeley's point of view, and her thoughts tend to get wordy. I absolutely loved the second half. When I got finished reading, I put my kindle down and just kind of sat here in awe. I didn't really know how to turn my feelings about this book into words. Other than the pacing of the first half, I wouldn't change a thing. I really hope this turns into a series. Jude's sister would make an awesome heroine. She is a very interesting character and she definitely needs her own book!
