Ben & Jerry's is known for their Limited Batch flavors. They release these periodically throughout the year. Ice cream fans hunt them down and try them before the flavors disappear off the shelves. Their newest flavor is Cannoli. This is the second time the company has made a cannoli flavored ice cream. The last flavor was unfavorable to customers, so Ben & Jerry took it off the shelves to reinvent it.
There is another reason this flavor is so special though, it is incredibly hard to find. If you are ever looking for a specific flavor of the company's ice cream, you can go on their website and hit "flavor locator", which brings up the locations closest to you that carry it. However, if you go to Cannoli there is no locator. Instead you must depend on people who have found the flavor at random stories and used the hashtag #findcannoli to let other fans know where to get the coveted flavor.
There was one pint stuck in between all the other flavors at the Target in Rowlett this week, like the ultimate prize in a treasure hunt. Some flavors are not that spectacular once you finally try them (Last year's SNL-themed Schweddy Balls), but at least you can say that you had such-and-such flavor when it existed. This is the exception.
Ben & Jerry's Cannoli Ice Cream may be one of the best flavors they have ever put out and is definitely one of the most unique. It has mascarpone ice cream with fudge covered pastry shell chunks and a mascarpone swirl. It is a very sweet ice cream, but is not overly sweet where you feel as if you should stop eating. It does have a lot of sugar, 23 grams per serving, but every gram is absolutely worth it.
The only problem with this ice cream is that if you're lucky to obtain a pint, it is going to be hard to resist eating the entire thing in one sitting. Other than that, it is definitely worth the calories to try an ice cream that is so similar to the actual product it mimics.
