As I continue on my quest to get my health back on track, I have been focusing on improving the quality of the water I drink. I have mentioned in previous posts, water quality is a contributing factor to your overall health, especially for those with chronic health conditions. As a habitual bottled water drinker, I have desired to drink filtered water on a regular basis for some time. Due to convenience and budget, bottled water appeared to be the most cost effective option. While many may feel this way, it is at the expense of our health. Due to not knowing the actual quality of the bottled water and the possibility of chemicals leaching from the plastic, it may appear to be the least expensive and easiest way to go, but you may end up paying for it in the long run.

In the past, I have purchased faucet water filters for the kitchen (popular brands) from local stores. While I felt it was a step up from bottled water, I would quickly become disappointed with the product due to the cost & frequency of replacement filters and the bulkiness of the product. As I researched for the best options for faucet filtered water, I came across the website for Aquasana. I had read previous recommendations from commenters on health blogs about their love for Aquasana filters. As I read more about their products and other testimonies, I was interested in trying a filter out for myself to review for my column.

I was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to review the Aquasana Countertop Water Filter with the Aquasana Premium Tap. From reading over the product specs, I was already very impressed with the quality of the filtration and the contaminants it filters (reduces 10x the contaminants as compared to other leading drip filters). Its innovative and patent-pending technology also delivers quality water fast. Nothing is worse than being thirsty and having to wait forever for the water to filter. What drew me to Aquasana even more is the fact that it reduces over 96% chlorine and chloramines - something I have become accustomed to having to drink; even with previously purchased water filters. I couldn't wait to receive the filter and try it out for myself.

Upon receiving the filter in the mail, I loved the size of the filter and its design. I was happy to finally remove my old faucet filter and have something sitting on the counter- out of the way. My husband read the instructions and hooked up the filter and flushed it fairly quickly. Although it does not come standard, I highly recommend the addition of the premium tap, as it is very user friendly and very attractive! The design is very sleek and sophisticated and works perfectly to switch between filtered and unfiltered water. The tap makes getting water to drink or using for cooking very easy to access.

The flow rate of the water was perfect, and the taste was great! My husband is very hard to please and even he remarked on how he could tell a difference - although it couldn't put his finger on it. He says the taste was "fresh." My children were big fans as well, with my daughter asking for water more often than normal. That is always a plus!

Out of all the water filters I have tried, this one overall is my favorite, due to the quality and the design. I have noticed a difference in my thirst level & energy levels since I began drinking the Aquasana filtered water. Using bottled water, I would have to drink more to feel "quenched" versus the filtered water from Aquasana. I also just overall feel better - I don't have as many aches and pains and elimination functions have improved. I am more than pleased with the filter and if all else continues to go well - they have a customer for life.
