The wintry weather on the east coast has made "cave dwellers" of many local residents on the North Shore of long island. Trying to beat the winter's blues has been challenging at best and painful at worst. Just the act of getting out, being social, and mingling with other people, helps mitigate the horrendous weather.

When we last visited Revel in garden city we were delighted with our initial dining experience. This time We were looking for an enjoyable Sunday Brunch and Jim, the owner of Revel, invited us to try their new brunch menu. The weather was daunting, but we took a short ride to Revel to sample their Sunday Brunch.

When we arrived at the restaurant, excitement was in the air and the restaurant was in a festive mood. Revel was entertaining over 100 people for an engagement party. Music, catering stations and lots of young people were by the bar, dancing and visiting the food stations. We proceeded to the other dining room in the rear of the restaurant for our brunch.

We were greeted by the general manager, Andreas, who led us to our table and introduced us to our waiter, Shabir. The rear dining room is smaller, intimate and has a charm all its own. Upon seating hot croissants and mini muffins were placed on our table with a homemade honey butter. Revel's brunch was diverse, inexpensive, and offered a number of exceptional choices. We began our meal with :

-Eggs Benedict - crispy pancetta, hollandaise sauce ,and tater tots

- Garden City Cobb Salad- A large bowl filled with crispy fresh romaine , chicken slices, avocado, pancetta, eggs, crumbled blue cheese and a delightful buttermilk dressing.

-Berry Berry French Toast- Fresh berry compote, whipped cream, and maple syrup.

Each dish was beautifully plated, colorful and totally delicious....The service was excellent and Shabir was very helpful in his suggestions.

All in all, our brunch was a perfect interlude on a cold wintry day on long island.

Kudos and congratulations to Jim Doukas, the owner for bringing a new exciting venue to Garden City.

Highly recommended for dining, catering and special occasions. Revel restaurant and bar, phone for reservations 516-246-9114
