Want a game that is extremely untypical? Avenging Spirit might fill that need.
Avenging Spirit has the typical good guy versus bad guys thing, with the bad guys kidnapping the good guy's girlfriend...but here's the twist...the bad guys killed the good guy and the good guy is a ghost. This ghost can now possess his enemies and make them fight the good fight.
Avenging Spirit was released in arcades in 1991, and made the transition to Game Boy cartridge in 1992. Your ghost has to make his way through each of the levels, possessing the bad guys. Each enemy character has his or her own attacks. Some punch and kick. Others have guns and bombs. Each level has a boss character that you need to defeat using the same body you met it with. In the levels themselves, your ghost must be in possession of someone or something. Your ghost loses health if he's not. You also only have one life, but can continue.
Avenging Spirit was one of those titles that will spark curiosity upon the title alone. Sadly, as was the case with a lot of Game Boy games, this game might hold your attention for a little bit, but you'll be seeking something else when the alure of being a ghost wears off. If this was the only game you had for your Game Boy, chances are you weren't happy.
This game is available on Nintendo's eShop on 3DS for the price of $2.99. Better than paying the $20 or $30 you would when it originally came out.
