REO Speedwagon, one of the best Rock and Roll bands rolled into the Magic Casino last night Friday January 27th, 2012 with their arsenal of hits stretching from the 70’s through today. They rolled out great classics like “Roll with the Changes”,”Like you do”, “Riding the Storm Out”, “Don’t let him go”, “Back on the Road again” and my favorite “Take it on the Run”! There is no other band than that can pump up and inspire an audience like these guys from Champaign, Illinois. Once they took the stage you knew that you were in for an incredible night. Their live shows are always energetic and the main reason why they are still touring after 43 years and last night was no exception. The band kicked! Beginning with an acoustic intro of Roll with the changes and heading right into “Keep Pushing” Their uplifting music and lyrics like” Keep Pushing” followed by great classics like “Music Man” and “Golden Country” to highlights like“Time for me to Fly”, an acoustic version of“Keep the Fire Burning”, the ever popular “ I Can’t Fight this Feeling” and “Keep on Loving You” propelled them into a state never before reached. Their musicianship has never been more pronounced. REO broke new ground last night with their extended intros and tacets. It wasn’t the more famous line up, but it didn’t seem to matter. They flew from one song to another to the delight of everyone. Kevin Cronin’s and Bruce Hall’s voices were spot on, as was Neal’s keyboards and Bryan Hitt’s (The Hitman) drumming. Dave Amato’s lead guitar could have been brought a bit during certain songs but that was it. They were amazing, and completed enthralled the sold out crowd. REO has always remained powerful, uplifting and just pure damn fun! Believe me, If you have never had the chance to see these guys do what they were born to do, don’t hesitate. It will be one of the best concerts ever.
