Remote smoker thermometer helpful kitchen addition for chefs

Everyone knows smoking meats takes an abundance of patience cooking slowly on low heat to achieve the fall off the bone texture and smoky flavor that barbecue is so well known for. What you may not realize is the amount of time that goes into the final product.

To make cooking and smoking easier, Maverick Industries has introduced a remote smoker thermometer that is designed to monitor both the meat and smoking chamber temperatures so the beef does not overcook while being smoked.

The best feature about this unit is the ability to check the chamber temperatures from inside the house and up to as far away as 100 feet. The wireless receiver with LCD beeps and flashes whenever the smoked meat temperature goes above your desired programmed temperature alerting you of the need to turn it down.

This remote thermometer was especially helpful when smoking a pulled pork in The Big Green Egg smoker. While the smoker is designed to maintain a steady temperature, sometimes due to outside temperatures, opening and closing, the heat inside can vary slightly. To ensure a steady temperature, the remote thermometer was simply inserted (up to six inches) into the pulled pork shoulder. If there was a slight fluctuation in temperature observed, the receiver beeped and flashed.

For those late night checks for the 24-hour required smoking for the pulled pork, we loved the backlight on the unit that is handy for use at night. Whether you use it for a grill or smoker, this handy thermometer is a great addition to any chef’s kitchen.

The Redi Chek remote smoker thermometer retails for $59.99 and comes with four AAA batteries. For more information, call (732) 417-9666 or visit www.maverickhousewares.com.
