Located minutes away from the Sonoma plaza-The Lodge at Sonoma offers guests a complete “locovore” experience. From dining options to the spa, the Lodge delivers in their commitment to sharing the Sonoma lifestyle with travelers and locals alike.
With a variety of guest rooms to choose from, the Lodge’s cottage rooms feature a suite-like environment with deep soaking tubs, fireplaces and outdoor patios, perfect to enjoy a glass of wine after a long day of tastings.
On a recent visit to the Lodge’s Raindance Spa, I was impressed with both the high quality of spa services and the obvious care infused into the overall spa design.
Entering the open and light filled lobby, I wandered through Raindance’s tempting boutique to gaze out onto a private outdoor patio. Bursting with flowers, the spa patio offers private nooks and lounging spaces in addition to outdoor soaking pools. In the women’s locker room, the spa’s sauna is set at just the right temperature, hot enough so you can feel it, but not so hot as to cause discomfort.
Upstairs in the relaxation lounge, I found the perfect environment to curl up and await my massage. Rich earth toned fabrics, soft plush couches and a double sided fire place set the stage for a cozy time out. An ample magazine selection and choice of cucumber water or tea made the experience complete.
My therapist Joe, arrived promptly and guided me to a treatment room where I was offered a selection of essential oil blends. Using 100% organic oils custom blended by apothecarist, Michelle Steinart, these blends are made locally in Sonoma Valley, and are a unique feature of every Raindance Spa signature massage.
Joe began my massage by intuitively going to the exact places on my body that were the most tense. With a firm but gentle touch, he expertly kneaded away tight muscles from head to toe, maintaining the perfect amount of pressure during the entire massage. The soothing aromatherapy oils only added to my deep relaxation, and the application of a heated pad on my back and a neck cradle when I turned face up confirmed that this was indeed a five star massage.
Leaving the spa relaxed and stress free, I wandered through the Lodge’s lobby and explored the luxurious barn and adjoining courtyard where weddings and other events are held. With a spacious, beautiful design and ample indoor and outdoor space, the Lodge’s event buildings also offer complete catering services and an on-site event coordinator. The Lodge Sonoma is perfect for those who are looking for an event that captures the essence of the Valley of the Moon, while also offering affordable full service options.
