All of us have it. The adventurous spirit guided by the low growl coming from somewhere deep in the stomach region specially close to meal time. It’s that, “where do you want to eat?” The answer is, “I dunno” syndrome and some how end up at a Restaurant / Bar that looks kewl from the street so you stop in? Then you find unfortunately the place is uneventful and no matter what the cost; you have just experienced an expensive error in hunger judgment! This place is Shucks Gaming and Oyster Bar on West Flamingo.
The best way to actually describe this restaurant and bar is uneventful, mediocre service with bland food. The décor is outstanding however nothing else meets with that décor.
There’s the small portion calamari $9.95 lightly breaded and fried with Cajun spice; served with Dijon sauce and marinara. Please count on no Cajun spice and served cold. There’s the seafood bisque cup - $4.95bowl - $5.95, watery thin, mild flavor and lukewarm. The original fish tacos (2) $9.95 grilled or battered cod strips topped with roasted red pepper dressing, pico de gallo and seared cabbage. No option is given when placing order for grilled or battered, mediocre.
Service is best described as, “you can get better and happier service at a McDonalds’ Drive Thru.”
Also prepared to listen to noisy screaming and running children because parents with young kids will outnumber your party 8 to1.Was it mentioned that this is a Gaming and Oyster Bar and not a Chuck E. Cheese? Confusing isn’t it?
The excellent cleanliness and the décor of the establishment are definitely worth mentioning. Other than that if you hear that tummy a growling and you see this cute eatery on West Flamingo Road in Las Vegas let that growl fall on deaf ears and go on by. Your tummy, your wallet, people in your party and you will be glad you did!
