For the remainder of the Reaper Bones reviews, Talien AKA Tal (the satyr paladin) and Maleficent AKA Mal (the half-fey/half-fiend sorceress) will review familiars as part of a new series, "That Familiar Show," a sort of fantasy dog show. In this installment, they review a bat.
Tal: Welcome back to another episode of "That Familiar Show." In today's show we're discussing bats--
Tal: Whoa, where did you come from?
Batman: I'm Batman.
Tal: Uh, where's Mal?
Tal: Mal, my co-host! You know, a green skinned horned babe who is easily offended...
Batman: No clue.
Tal: But you're the world's greatest detective!
Batman: I know that. I'm Batman.
Tal: I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about bats. The minion of vampires and bad guys everywhere, bats are another mobile familiar that can keep up with flying spellcasters and have the added benefit of being able to navigate in the dark without magical assistance.
Batman: It's true.
Tal: Bats give a +3 bonus to Listen checks to their masters, which curiously makes them less about being stealthy and more about being alert.
Batman: I like the way this bat is standing.
Tal: On its hind legs with its wings spread out? Normal bats probably can't do that.
Batman: It's like he's saying, "I'M BATMAN!"
Tal: You said that already.
Mal: I'm back, what familiar are we talking about today?
Tal: What the...? Did you not see Batman just now?
Mal: Batman?! SQUEE! OMYGODISHEHEREDIDYOUGETHISNUMBERISHECOMINGBACK?
Tal: He's gone Mal.
Mal: Awww. Was he really here?
Tal: Batman? Maybe.
