Rain Fall by Barry Eisler

Rain Fall is the first book in Barry Eisler's John Rain series. Filled with nonstop action, adventure, and drama, Rain Fall gives the reader a look into the world of war, assassination, and Japanese culture.

Trained by the U.S. Special Forces and having served in Vietnam, loner John Rain is calm, cool, and collected when it comes to his business. After twenty five years of performing assassinations that are made to look like death by natural causes, John has been able to maintain a steady flow of work for the LDP. But after the assassination of a government official on a subway train, Rain's carefully organized world in the shadows begins to crumble around him.

Different agencies from both Japan and the United States are tracking John and his code of living in the shadows is blown when he falls for an alluring Jazz pianist named Midori, the daughter of the man he killed on the subway. Not only is Midori beautiful and talented, she is also the key to the secrets that her father was attempting to reveal right before he died.

Rain Fall is by far one of the absolute best books that I have ever read. Barry Eisler is a true master of suspense. His depictions, characters, plot, and ability to draw the reader into the story are unlike any other that I have ever read. The world of John Rain is a complicated and dangerous one, but one that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
