Quacky Baseball by Peter Abrahams

Well they’re not the Iron Pigs or the Phillies but these little duckies won’t quit the game without a fight. The book is Quacky Baseball by Peter Abrahams, illustrated by Frank Morrison and the game is Quackers vs Weebies. One star duck is the one who will make or break the game.

Thumby Duck is making his debut on the Weebies team the catcher in the left field. He is the last one to bat when it seems that the Quackers are going to win at the bottom of the ninth. Can he pull it off? Can he make a home run and get his team a win? Or will he one, two, three strikes out?

This “home run” story is great for twos, threes, fours and fives – its simple, quick text and storyline is easy to grab youngsters into the action at the ball park. Although the beginning storyline transitions are a bit quick, readers will soon be swept up into the intense emotion and edge of your seat action. With the wonderfully detailed, colorful and clear illustrations by Frank Morrison this story is a great summer time read, especially for baseball season. So check out Quacky Baseball by Peter Abrahams for this baseball season.

Thanks to Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins Children’s for a review copy of Quacky Baseball.
