Every Overland Park, KS resident should take a drive to Martin City’s Pizza & Tap. The Taproom opened on February 12, 2014, and serves beer brewed right next door with hot pizzas baked in a stone oven. Quincy “Q” McDowney reviews the homemade brick oven pizzas.
He ordered the Carne, a hot and fresh pizza loaded with Italian sausage, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, meatballs, marinara and cheese. The pizza is offered in three sizes and price ranges: 6” is $7.00, 12” is $13.00 and 16” is $17.00.
After taking a bite of the Carne pizza, McDowney said, “That was an awesome bite. It was awesome. Hold on. The meat is awesome.” He goes on to comment there could be more of their flavorful sauce and that he liked the crust. He ends the review by giving the pizza four out of five um-ums, McDowney’s food rating system.
Martin City’s Pizza & Taproom is located at 500 E. 135 Street, Kansas City, Missouri next door to the original Martin City Brewing Company pub which was established in 2011 in a remodeled hundred-year-old building. The restaurants offer unique food menus and over 50 different brews.
Quincy “Q” McDowney is a former United States Marine and is a budding food critic. He was born and raised in Maryland, moving to Kansas City, Missouri in 1997 while in the Marine Corps. Q is known for making appreciative noises while dining, making him a favorite for any chef to have at their dinner table. His favorite foods include steak, seafood and potatoes. He is willing to try anything, as he explores flavors and textures, giving dishes one to five ‘um-ums’.
