On Saturday March 16, 2013 punk rockers Agent Orange tore it up at The Alley in Sparks NV. Although there were two other big shows in the Reno/Sparks area on the same night, over 200 punk fans showed up in support of the punk rock legends.
Also on the bill were Reno locals Up Against It, Beercan Reno and Reno We Have A Problem.
Agent Orange is an American punk rock band formed in Orange County, California in 1979. The band is one of the first to mix punk rock with surf music. They first gained attention for their song "Bloodstains", released on their debut 7" EP in 1979.
Current members include, founding member and front man Mike Palm-(vocals, guitar), Perry Giordano-(bass, backing vocals) and Dave Klein-(drums).
The set lasted around 90 minutes and went like this, (from the set list on stage)
"Miserlou", "Everything Turns To Grey", "Tearing Me Apart", "Secret Agent Man", "It's All A Blur", "America", "Whistling Past The Graveyard", "Mr. Moto", "Voices In The Dark", "Break Down", "Say It Isn't So ", "Fire In The Rain", "This House Is Haunted", "No Such Thing", "Cry For Help", "I Kill Spies", "What's The Combination", "It's In Your Head", "Police Truck", "Somebody To Love", "El Dorado", "Living In Darkness", "Bloodstains", "This Is Not The End", "Pipeline", "Last Goodbye", "Wouldn't Last A Day", "This Is All I Need", "Shakin' All Over", "Exotic" and one encore song, "Somebody To Love" (Jefferson Airplane Cover).
This show had a lot of energy, the mosh pit was in full swing the entire set. The fans were really getting into every song with a vengeance. Supporting act Up Against It jumped up on the stage during the set and joined AO on "Tearing Me Apart". It was total mayhem on stage and really a lot of fun for both bands and the fans as well.
If you missed this one, you missed a good one.
A great time was had by all.
Agent Orange just returned from a three night stand in Hawaii, so when they found out that they had to drive 12 hours to Sparks and back the next day for a one night show, they weren't to happy and posted this on their Facebook page, "EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY! Agent Orange are no longer working with Artists Worldwide. All booking inquiries should be directed to: booking@agentorange.net". So being the class act that they are, they did the Sparks show anyways. Now that's how a band should treat their fans, very impressive in this examiners opinion.
Opening the show for Agent Orange were Reno locals, Up Against It.
Their set lasted around 45 minutes and went like this,
"Work Horse", "Reno", "Pyro", "Dead Nation", "Nitemare", "16 Virgins", "Partying's Fun" and "Eye For An Eye".
Up Against It tore it up, they were a perfect fit for this show. To read this examiners feature story on the band go to, (www.examiner.com/article/local-bands-from-reno-that-rock-featuring-up-ag...)
These guys are really moving up in the Reno music scene, they know how to rock and do a great job at it. A very impressive band to see live. Don't miss them the next time they play, you won't be disappointed.
The other two bands also put on great sets as well.
The Alley in Sparks ROCKS !!!!
