Pronto Cucinino in Houston, Texas: A Short Overview

Pronto Cucinino is a very low key cafeteria style Italian venue, which makes it for a great lunch if you work around the area because it is quite fast, but you can go for  an early dinner as well since the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is located in the Montrose area of town about 2 minutes from the city’s downtown at 1401 Montrose and the hours of operations are from Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The décor of the place is very laid back and there is little service since you order at the counter and then get up to get your food; the place has a very rustic atmosphere to it.

For appetizer you can go with a cup of zuppa di pollo which is roasted chicken, vegetable and pasta for $2.25, or the fritto misto which is fried calamari, shrimp and zucchini chips with a spicy marinara sauce for $5.25 or instead of bread get the pizza squares like the Americano which is pepperoni, mushroom, mixed olives, tomato and mozzarella or the Primavera which comes with marinated artichoke, peppers, olives, spinach, mushroom and a pesto sauce for $2.75.

For their pasta selection go with the rigatoni rustica which come with spicy sausage, eggplant, peas, tomato, cream and Parmesan for $8.25, or the ravioli which are pasta of ricotta and Parmesan cheese, spinach and a tomato sauce for $7.95, or the linguine diavolo which come with shrimp, mushrooms, olives, scallions and a spicy marinara sauce for $9.95 or even the lasagna for $8.25.

Their food is quite good for being a cafeteria style restaurant so it gets a B+, however during lunch it can get a little crowded, but on the plus side the orders are quick to come out.
