Those rockers at Rock Tape sent along a sample of their various products for the purpose of review. We previously considered their Rock Sauce product, today we will consider their kinesiology tape.
In short, kinesiology tape is a thin stretchy tape that acts like a muscle that you attach to your skin. A unique feature of Rock Tape is that it does not merely compress like just about anything that you can wrap around your body. But it can be applied to compresses and promotes recovery or decompression to relieve pain and swelling.
You see the tape lifts the skin so as to allow for the flow of oxygen and blood which reduces swelling and induces healing.
- Stickier, hypoallergenic adhesive that won't fall off during competition
- 180% stretch, the same elasticity as skin, to promote full range of motion
- 97% cotton, 3% Nylon 6/12, low moisture absorption
- Tighter weave, which enables muscle to more easily snap-back to neutral
- Water resistant
- Variety of designs and colors
- Wearable for up to 5 days
What is wonderful about Rock Tape is that it comes in a continuous stream-roll meaning that the entire roll is one piece of tape. Thus, you can cut it to whatever length you please or, if you fell as this reviewer does on occasion, you can wrap your entire body like a mummy!
Also, they emphasize the utility of the tape meaning that they note that one should tape the activity and not the muscle. In order words, base your taping on the activity you will perform (such as throwing, lifting, running, etc.) and not just paste it atop a muscle that happens to be sore that day—see their how-to-use page, for details.
The tape comes in various colors, some with designs, and different widths.
Keep some tape with you always—easily packed into a gym bag, hiking backpack, etc.—as you never know when you will need it and you surely do not want to do without it.
