iSatoritech has sent along their Eat-Smart high-protein meal replacement bar, as a sample of their various products, for the purposes of review.
iSatori is not just a manufacturer of fitness / sports nutritional products / supplements but they offer info on nutrition and Training, host a Fitness Community, and much more. But let us get to the product in focus today by getting right to the nutritional info as per an 80 g bar:
Calories 330
Fat 12 g
Cholesterol 5 mg
Sodium 310 mg
Potassium 280 mg (good mixture here as it is always a good idea to take in some potassium when consuming sodium)
Net carbs 28 g
Protein 27 g
Plus some vitamins, minerals and delightful soy and whey protein crisps along with whey protein isolates and concentrate—this bar is “Powered by Whey Protein Hydrolysates.”
Now, to the point: do you think that 330 cal is high for an energy bar? Well, note that this is, specifically, a “meal replacement bar.” Did you notice that the bar weighs in at 80 g? Indeed, this means that this is a hefty, satisfying meal replacement. This is about knowing what you are doing and doing it correctly.
Now, if you are attempting to gain weight—the good sort of weight—then you can certainly make this bar a part of your meal. Yet, if you are attempting to maintain or even lose weight, this bar certainly fits the bill or, the menu. Some people do not realize that a “meal replacement” is just that, and this bar will satisfy hunger whilst providing muscle building protein and energy—oh, and they are utterly delicious as they come in chocolate peanut caramel crunch flavor (yes, that is one flavor or rather, various flavor mixed in to one which pleases the palate).
If you are so inclined, you can also cut the bar into two and make two regular sized bars. Indeed, some “regular” sized bars (whatever that is) are more of a “fun sized” snack that simply cannot count as a meal replacement since it does not fill you up or otherwise satisfy.
Please note that, true to their spirit of community, iSatoritech donates proceeds to support the Eddie-Lin McAteer Scholarship Fund. These funds are distributed to students at Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, NC.
