Fighter Tech sent along a sample of their various products for the purpose of review. We previously considered their energy and fat burning supplements and their soy protein powder. Let us now consider the BCAA Plus supplement.
Fighter Tech is just that, the state of the art supplements for fighters: Brazilian Jiu-Jitzu and MMA (mixed martial arts) in general.
It must be noted that there are differences between certain bodybuilding (or, other fitness activities) supplements versus those designed for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Jiu-Jitsu fighters. For example, fighters are not after muscle pumps that they do not want their muscles weighed down and slowed down, as it where.
However, when it comes to branch chain amino acids (BCAA), all can benefit from this particular supplement.
As Fighter Tech puts it:
Proper supplementation is essential for the combat athlete that wants to make the most of the torture they put their body through. So while casual and occasional athletes may be satisfied with a simple protein shake, most combat athletes are willing to dig deeper and explore every option that will maximize their efforts.
While complete protein sources, such as meats, do contain BCAAs, research has shown that additional supplementation can be beneficial to maximize athletes’ gains. One advantage the supplementation of these amino acids lies in their ability to make the most of the all-important post-workout period.
Research has shown that in both males and females, amino acid supplementation after exercise can reverse net muscle protein balance from a negative to a positive state.
Circa 33% of our muscle consists of various BCAA combinations. Exercise break muscles down and rest and recovery builds them back up. Thus, with BCAA supplementation, you can provide that which your body requires in order to rebuild bigger, stronger muscles. Moreover, the body employs BCAAs as a source of energy.
BCAAs are used as an energy source and also play an important role glyconeogenesis - a mechanism for reusing the glucose used for energy in muscle. Because the body requires increased amounts of energy during exercise, BCAA oxidation is increased; therefore supplementing with additional BCAAs will preserve muscle tissue from being broken down to acquire BCAAs.
BCAAs are energy-rich in the sense that their oxidation produces increased amounts of adenosine triphosphate or ATP. ATP is used by cells as an energy carrier. It is often referred to as "molecular currency" and is responsible for transporting energy within cells for metabolism.
The BCAAs are valine, leucine and isoleucine and Fighter Tech’s supplement consists of a ratio of 2:1:1 plus glutamine and citrulline malate (which assists in promoting muscle recovery and decrease muscle fatigue).
Overall, BCAA Plus
