Every week on “Pretty Little Liars,” the suspicions seem to fall on someone new. In the March 11th episode, “Unbridled,” Mrs. DiLaurentis is still acting uber-creepy, just as she had in the prior week, but she’s not the only one who is up to no good. For one, her son Jason seems to be helping her by “protecting” her.
But the first question of the episode is, why is Spencer (Troian Bellisario) in a wedding dress and running through the woods? Well, for one, she’s participating in a charity wedding dress fashion show put on Mrs. DiLaurentis. Before the rest of that is explained though, the ABC Family drama rewinds 48 hours, and A is really set on taunting Spencer from the beginning.
“You know me Spencer, you killed me,” A says in one note to Spencer. And once again, Spencer is questioning herself and what she might have done to Ali (Sasha Pieterse), or at least the girl in Ali’s grave, that one summer. By being honest with her mom about that, Spencer finally gets an answer, kind of. Days before Ali went missing, Spencer flipped out, and Alison saw Mrs. Hastings sorting through her daughters’ clothes in their backyard. But Alison didn’t talk to Spencer about what she saw, afraid that Spencer would turn on her too.
But it’s not Spencer that Ali is really afraid of on “PLL" "Unbridled." In many ways, it might still be her mom. After all, why wouldn’t Mrs. DiLaurentis just turn Spencer in, if she really saw Spencer strike her daughter with a shovel?
Then there’s the mounting evidence against Mrs. DiLaurentis. Not only does Ms. Marin find a bag of new clothes for Ali, but at the charity show, Spencer sees Mrs. DiLaurentis give a suitcase to someone in the shadows… which is exactly why she runs into the woods.
Unfortunately, Spencer finds nothing of value in the woods on “Pretty Little Liars” “Unbridled.” In fact, she almost gets hurt when her veil gets snagged in a bear trap. Yet it’s what she finds in her wedding dress that is most traumatizing; A put human bones into the boning of her dress with the note, “What will you do when the rest of me comes out of the grave?”
So does that mean Spencer is being taunted by someone who knows who really is in that grave? That’s what the note seems to imply.
But the girls are about to get some answers, real ones, and not just hints, like learning that Jason wasn’t really in rehab like he said he was. After finding a way to contact Ali through an email address, they get a phone call from Ali. Ali doesn’t want them to speak to her mom. But she does want them to meet her in Philadelphia.
They don’t find her in the old warehouse though. But someone must have followed them. “What are you doing here?” Spencer asks at episode’s end. Of cliffhanger endings, this wasn’t the most dramatic in the show’s history. But it sure set up some suspense for the spring finale, in which Ali will supposedly tell all, finally. So who do you think is in the warehouse? Is it a friend? Or a foe?
“Pretty Little Liars” airs on ABC Family Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EDT.
