On “Pretty Little Liars,” Aria (Lucy Hale) might still be reeling from what she learned about Ezra (Ian Harding), but she’s not the only reason the episode on February 25 was called “She’s Come Undone.” Spencer (Troian Bellisario) is still trying to kick her drug habit, and in the process, she’s learning quite a bit about herself.
While Aria and Spencer are going through the toughest times on the ABC Family drama, the other girls are starting to dig their own holes too. Hanna (Ashley Benson), in attempting to help Travis and his father, talks to her new detective friend -- and ends up kissing him out in public; chances are that will lead to no good.
More interestingly on “Pretty Little Liars,” Emily (Shay Mitchell) is once again doing Shana and Alison’s bidding by preparing to send the money to Ali. The problem here? Paige (Lindsey Shaw) notices the wad of cash, and she follows Emily to an express mail service -- and then she takes the package away.
Paige claims she’s just worried about Emily and how she's attracting the attention of A, but considering everything Aria has been going through lately with Ezra, Paige’s “worry” seems suspicious. But Emily doesn’t seem to think so, and it doesn’t help that she’s not that great at thinking on her feet. She ends up trusting Paige a bit too much, and tells her all about Ali being alive, one of the stupidest moves she could ever make.
Before that stupidity can become totally clear on “Pretty Little Liar” “She’s Come Undone” though, a lot happens with the two girls who are seemingly spiraling out of control. The more Aria learns about Ezra, especially after going through all his research in his apartment, the more betrayed she feels. “It’s simple. He never really loved me,” Aria tells the girls.
Then Aria becomes a hurricane of destruction. But, the discovery that really puts her over the edge is a letter from a literary agent. Ezra is still planning on publishing his book, and that’s why Aria, understandably so, wants to hurt him. She nearly goes to the principal about their relationship. The only thing that stops her? Amazingly, it’s Hanna who talks some sense into her. Exposing their relationship to the whole world wouldn’t just affect him and her, but her family too. But no one can stop Aria when she decides to run away.
The most revealing storyline of all though on “PLL” belongs to Spencer. She’s going through some major withdrawal, but she does manage to convince her parents that she can get off the pills on her own without going to rehab. But then A gives her a gift of pills, and Spencer finds some suspicious items in Ezra’s apartment, learns that her dad had her followed by a private investigator, and then also discovers that Cece saw Spencer pick up a shovel while fighting with Alison the night Ali disappeared. But Mrs. DiLaurentis saw this fight too. So why didn’t Spencer remember the incident? Because she’d been taking pills back then too. Suddenly it doesn’t seem so bizarre that Ezra suspected one of the friends as Ali’s killer (before he learned that Ali wasn’t really dead).
Yet the clues as to what is really going on don’t end there. Ezra might not be A, but someone else is now very much under suspicion. Emily should have never trusted Paige, because Paige has some secrets of her own. She writes a note to someone -- saying that Ali is alive, that she needs to be found, and she even provides an address -- and leaves it in a cop’s car. Any bets that cop is the one who Hanna’s been smooching?
“Pretty Little Liars” airs on ABC Family Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EST.
