No one is safe on "Pretty Little Liars" "Hot Water" -- which aired Feb. 19 -- and that includes more than just the four friends.
While Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) are reuniting, at least for now, and Paige (Lindsay Shaw) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) are sleuthing in the costume shop, the other girls are finding themselves in hot water, literally for some.
Spencer's (Troian Bellisario) spiral seems to have stopped on "PLL," at least momentarily, now that Wren (Julian Morris) is back in her life. But sharing a kiss on the street isn’t going to keep Spencer safe. Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) clearly hates her one and only sister, but could she have been the one to lock Spencer in the steam shower and turn up the heat?
She seems capable of such torture, what with growing suspicions about her hatred for Ali. Then again, it’s Cece (Vanessa Ray) who keeps telling Emily that Melissa wanted Ali’s videos more than anyone, and Cece still can’t be trusted either.
But Spencer doesn’t think it was Melissa who tortured her in the steam shower on "Pretty Little Liars" "Hot Water." Rather, she blames her old lover, Toby (Keegan Allen). A’s message -- “Steamy with Wren, steamy with me” -- kind of implies that too, and it’s this moment that finally gives Spencer the courage to tell the truth about Toby. "I know who’s helping Mona," she says.
For once though, Spencer’s story is not center stage. Rather that goes to the mystery that is Detective Wilden (Bryce Johnson). As usual, he’s not leaving the girls alone, but this time he’s getting downright creepy about it. “See you later, Hanna,” he says in a voice that will make just about anyone shudder.
It’s Hanna (Ashley Benson) he’s targeting, because it’s Hanna he blames for spreading rumors about him and Ali. Since he doesn’t think he can keep her quiet on his own, he goes to the one person he thinks he can control: Ashley (Laura Leighton), Hanna’s mom. But Ashley doesn’t do well with threats either, and when the detective pulls her car over in the woods, she's not about to bend to his will.
“Either you shut Hanna up or I will,” Wilden yells on "PLL," just before Ashley mows him down with her car and leaves.
She’s shaken, but she does come back, in case she killed him... but he’s not there. What Hanna nor her mother realize is that the cop car is filming all of this. But what did it capture of the night, other than Wilden’s confrontation with Ashley? The video is sure to show whether Wilden crawled away on his own -- or someone came to help him.
But who would that be? Cece is no friend of his, and the whole N.A.T. Club is now either dead or hiding out.
Detective Wilden clearly has his secrets, and, if he’s alive, he’s sure to keep his secrets, no matter what the cost.
"Pretty Little Liars" airs on ABC Family Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. EST.
