Prepare for a comic con mystery in Scooby Doo Mask of the Blue Falcon

Over the years Scooby Doo has become not only a fan favorite cartoon for numerous generations, but has also sported more quest stars than any other show. From TV series to live action and multiple straight to video animated films there is no doubt that he is here to stay no matter what your feelings on him. Now he is back with an all-new film featuring the legendary Blue Falcon aptly titled Scooby Doo and the Mask of the Blue Falcon.

Scooby Doo and the Mask of the Blue Falcon follows the gang as they meet the faded Blue Falcon lead actor at a comic convention. But when one his original antagonists Mr. Hyde begins terrorizing the show to stop the release of the New Falcon film they must jump into action to solve the mystery like only they can. First of all the title for this film is a bit misleading as the actual Blue Falcon never really appears much in the film, so first get it out of your head that this another team up style film with the gang, but instead just the subject matter of the mystery. With that being said this movie ends up being pretty fun thanks to the clever use of the convention and all the nostalgic aspects from cartoons past. The story itself works fine and pretty much follows the same formula for every other Scooby Doo related adventure, but the fact that its subject will resonate with fans on a few levels helps it to be way better than it probably should have been without the Blue Falcon himself being a feature player.

For a person who not only dislikes Scooby doo, but even more so Dynomutt this film still works pretty well. Most of it is due to the clever placement of the Hanna Barbara Universe throughout the film, but also the hopes that maybe there is a glimmer of hope that this film could bring Blue Falcon back to the masses, but we all know that’s not likely to happen.
