Portland's Post 5 Production of The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged)

There are not enough adjectives in the English language to do justice to the genius of three performers from Post5 Theatre.  For the month of February, they have undertaken the task of performing, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).”

The play was originally performed and written by Adam Long, David Singer, and Jess Winfield, and with a run of ten years, was London’s longest-running comedy at the Criterion Theatre in the West End of London.  “The show attempts to perform, recap, summarize or (occasionally) simply mention each and every one of Shakespeare’s 37 plays in under 120 minutes.”

The current production was directed by Bruce Hostetler, and features Orion Bradshaw, of Post5 Theatre, and Sam De Roest, and Keith Cable, as the varied and wonderful cast of Shakespearean characters.  This play is witty, charming, hilarious, and engaging.  Interspersed throughout the play, are scenes with the cast members acting as themselves while they have “moments” of frustration, emotional exhaustion, and a touch of craziness, a play within a play, if you will.

Kyr Westwind, resident of Milepost 5, had this to say about the play, “Watching this show I went weak in the knees and wept. Wept the kind of tears that are only possible when you are LAUGHING SO HARD YOU CANT BREATH!!”  And, “They are nothing less than brilliant, and you owe it to yourself to see them.”

Don’t miss this outstanding and brilliant performance! Performances are held at Milepost 5 in the EAT. ART. THEATRE Restaurant Thursday through Sunday, until February 25th. Shows start promptly at 7pm.  All shows are free of charge, but donations are highly appreciated and much needed as that is what sustains them.  You can donate at the show or securely through their IndiGoGo page.
