If you have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Bangkok’s best new wine bar concept, then your wait is officially over. The Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok recently unveiled their trendy new “Pop-Up Wine & Charcuterie Room” located in the Parichart Court next to the popular Aqua Bar. This chic and exciting new dining concept is primed to be the latest “go to spot” for those who are looking for a casual yet sophisticated place to enjoy rarified wines and a dizzying array of premier cold cuts sourced from around the world.

The concept was simple, to create a vibrant wine venue in a vacant or underutilized part of the hotel. “It’s really about seeing an opportunity to do something unique without detracting form the other successful venues we have at Four Seasons Bangkok. We wanted to create something that would be complementary; where we could showcase a high-end quality product that we deliver at a value to the customer”, shared F & B Manager Vinod Naryan. “Clearly the idea for a pop-up is based on the popular phenomenon in the USA and abroad, the difference is our pop up is here to stay.”

Pop-Up differentiates themselves by offering a range of premium wines selected from different regions around the world to pair well with the day’s charcuterie. They are open six days a week; Monday to Saturday, from 5pm onwards and they have an extensive selection of wine available both by the glass and the bottle. Pop-Up stays true to the spirit of a charcuterie house in France and serves only meats along with the wine. There’s no cheese to be found, but the delicious homemade breads are made to compliment the menu. To say the wine list is impressive is an understatement. Both the wines and collection of cold cuts are exclusive to Pop-Up, and you will not find them at any of the hotel’s other outlets. A rustic wooden table forms the centerpiece of the restaurant, and it is loaded with the best cold cut selections, no less than four Jamon on display, and a variety of sausages sliced to order. The menu categorizes the meats by the regions of France, Spain and Italy, and you can order ala carte or get a platter to share. Priced under 650Baht, there is a selection of four platters that give you an opportunity to try some of the more popular cuts along with a selection of olives and pickles. The portion of the platters is twice what you usually find and the quality is unparalleled. From the ala carte menu, I recommend the Prosciutto di Carpegna San Leo D.O.P, the Jamón lbérico Pata Negra Bellotas, the Chorizo Cular Ibérico Bellota and the Coppa di Parma. For wine I recommend the Chianti, “Campoluce” Sensi from Italy or the Shirah Grenacha Merlot, “Amic”, Clos d’Agon from Spain, both of which are a stunning accompaniment to the cold cuts. Another must try is the Chorizo “Maragato” Picante which is a super spicy sausage that is very soft so that you can actually spread it like butter onto bread. I’ve never had anything quite like it and that alone makes Pop-Up worth going back to. Another nice touch is that they have Louis Roederer Champagne, Brut Premier NV and Moët & Chandon Champagne, Brut Rosé NV available by the glass or the bottle if you are really in the mood to celebrate.

Pop-Up is a perfect place to stop in for a glass of wine or two after work and enjoy a world class selection of hams, salamis, chorizo, saucissontel, speck and much more. The venue is casual and relaxed with brick walls, concrete floors, and blackboards that display the day’s offerings. It’s European-style casual dining at its best and there is nothing quite like it anywhere in Bangkok. Pop-Up is also the ideal venue for small private events, and is great for catching up with friends. As an added bonus, the charcuterie platters are available to take away; as they make delightfully memorable centerpieces for home parties.
