Family and pet friendly
The City of Roseville has provided us with another great place to stretch our legs, play with our dogs and cringe as our kids try to use training wheels for the first time. This is an easy, open trail that gives us the chance to get outside, walk amongst the trees, and best of all, it's close to town. The Pleasant Grove Creek Trail, South Branch, is located off of Blue Oaks Blvd. It sits on the northwest corner of Roseville.
If you are looking for a simple, fun, easy trail so you can blow the cobwebs out of your head - this is it. Get in the car, drive over to Veteran's Park and enjoy the sunshine. The city has given us a wonderful trail; a nice, cleanly paved, two-lane bike path. We saw bikers, hikers, families, and pets all enjoying this trail.
The elevation on the path has little change. Along the Southern Branch, we found no debris or broken pavement on the trail. This is a well maintained path. The bulk of the city's trails have been created in the past decade. The Southern Branch of the trail falls between Veteran's Park and Blue Oaks Park. It's a wonderful path of open spaces filled with stunning oak trees.
After you park at the Veteran's Park, the trail starts as a dirt path heading out from the parking lot. Go past the baseball diamond and continue beyond the basketball court. At this point the trail becomes paved, then passes underneath the bridges on Blue Oaks Blvd. Here you can pass safely underneath the road traffic.
If you are looking for a quick escape into a beautiful area for the family – this is it. It's close to town, free, clean, and friendly. Take a look and bring your lunch. Prepare to spend a day in the sun and enjoy the trees!!
