Zombies remain part of popular culture. The Arma II Day Z mod and the War Z game take advantages of this trend. Each of these games has a dedicated following.. Plague Z brings this craze to the tablet gaming market.
Plague Z's graphics are on par with the games it emulates. They are neither terrible nor great, but the game suffers from many game play problems. Its Google Play market description informs users that the game is in beta, but this does not stop the company from charging $1.60 for the game.
When a character enters the game world, most players notice the game's first flaw. The controls do not work well. A virtual joystick allows the user to move backwards and forward. He can perform a side strafe motion by moving his finger left or right. If the player wants to turn he must move the cross hairs with his right hand. The dual-control system makes it difficult to navigate the virtual environment. Many games explain all of this in a tutorial, but Plague Z hs no tutorial..
Players can pick up new weapons and bullets. Many first person shooters share this design feature. Plague Z designers chose to make sure the type of bullets matched a particular type of weapon. Making sure players keep track of their ammunition is a good feature for a survival horror game, but this would be more useful if the game allowed the player to switch weapons easily. The game never makes the weapon switching motion clear.
Plague Z's numerous flaws do not end with difficulty in switching weapons. The controls make the navigation sequences exceptionally bouncy. Bouncy motion sequences can cause simulator sickness. First person shooters often cause this condition. Good game design can alleviate or eliminate this problem, but Plague Z's developers do not seem to be aware of this.
Plague Z lists of flaws is not yet complete, although the reader is coming to the end of this list.. No shooter can be completed if the player cannot aim the gun at a target. The design makes. zombie aggro a possibility. Eliminating the threat they pose is not.
Plague Z is best described as incomplete. Its programmers and developers must spend time correcting these flaws. Until they do this, they should make the game free and include a way to report bugs and gameplay issues.. It earns one out of five stars.
