Captain Jack Sparrow is beloved, period. However, when all of the other stars bailed out of this franchise, maybe Depp should have thought harder about trying to go to that well one more time.
The plot leads you astray and it introduces characters that you know you have never seen before, but they act as if they have been in the previous three movies.
Jack is always entertaining, but there is nothing new in this movie. Even black beard just wasn’t that great of a bad guy. We have already been there and done that with a super natural villain in Davey Jones.
The whole plot of this movie was a race to find the fountain of youth. (crickets) Yup, how original.
There are certain movies that make you feel exhausted just watching during the action scenes with the characters constantly running and fighting and the Pirates franchise has mastered that. Remember the scene from number two when they were on the big wheel trying to get Davey Jones’ heart? Well put that scene on amphetamines and you get On Stranger Tides.
Don’t pay full price to see this. It is definitely Red Box worthy if you have already invested parts of your life to the pirates franchise, you do have to close it out. But if your not a big fan, skip it and watch Hall Pass.
I need three beers just to review it.
