USA - BroadwayGlobal gives you a sneak peak at the new Broadway revival of "Pippin". "Pippin" is one of the most beloved musicals in Broadway history, with music and lyrics written by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and Book by Roger O. Hirson now in previews on Broadway.
Tony Award, Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critic Circle Award nominated Broadway star Patina Miller was recently named Broadway's sexiest by BroadwayGlobal. "Patina stars in the exciting new revival of Stephen Schwartz musical "Pippin" and this "Pippin" is soulful and magical!" BroadwayGlobal.
"With astonishing illusions "Pippin" is revived like never seen before, a Theatre Chat top pick for one of the best Broadway revivals in years. "Pippin" has found its "Corner of the Sky". "Pippin" has "Magic to Do" just for you" but more than magical, its astonishing! A magical love story of finding one's self. " Theatre Chat.
Andrea Martin (Berthe) soars bringing down the house with her rendition singing "Oh, it's time to start livin'. Time to take a little from the world we're given. Time to take time, cause spring will turn to fall in just "No Time At All". And in just "No Time At All" the Broadway audience is won over, with this new circus themed, death defying 'Pippin".
The show within a show makes more sense, with this circus theme. "Pippin's life is walking a tightrope.. he is looking to be extra-ordinary, find his "Corner of the Sky", and Leading Player Patina Miller, as evil circus ringleader is trying to direct "Pippin" to give us the big finale, to jump into the flames.... The Leading Player character is really that dark side in all of us, always telling us to try or do something that is brave, daring, risky... Fosse compared the role to Charles Manson, a leader that captivates his audience to follow him to their death. Director Paulus brings this idea to stage. Paulus gives you danger, illusions and a magical love story of one's self. "Pippin" is timeless! A treasure to musical theatre.
Stephen Schwartz attended the preview and what a kind, gracious, talented man. (See slideshow for picture). Stephen has given the globe live theatre that will live throughout eternity. "Pippin" has always been a favorite. "Corner of the Sky" must be the most sung audition piece ever. And if they can sing it right, it can land you the job... I know. Thanks Stephen!
Patina Miller's voice is as magical as ever, and the Bobb Fossee inspired choreography by Chet Walker looks as good on Miller as it did on Ben Vereen. Chet's choreography, the illusions, the cast, sets, costumes, lighting are all the "Simple Joy's" of live theatre, bringing back "Glory" to Broadway. Everything has its season… and this season, "Pippin" has returned to Broadway for the first time since it first thrilled audiences forty years ago. For tickets visit www.pippinthemusical.com.
