Andre Tsalpatouros moved to the United States six years ago from Niece, France. He has owned Pierre's for over three years, though Pierr's has been open for more than 27 years.
The first thing that a patron will notice when entering Pierre's is the enchanting smell of fresh baked bread. The pastries look like works of art, and the ambiance is calming and comfortable.
Pierre's is a full-service bakery which offers freshly baked bread, delicious pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, quiche, and crepes. Each item in the bakery is made without preservatives and in the French tradition.
Pierre's is the largest purchaser of butter in the valley. They buy over 2000 lbs. of butter every month. Pierre's serves and uses only the award-winning Wutrich butter for their offerings.
Tsalpatouros believes that butter enriches the foods and can be a great thing. "It's a matter of portion," said Tsalpatouros, with a smile. "There are not that many French bakeries; we are one of the only bakeries in town which is full service. It's quite unique," he added. This reviewer agrees. The charm draws you in, and the food will make you stay.
Tsalpatouros calls the bakery "this little gem" and also said, "This is the best thing that has happened to us." He recently did a little remodeling and added items to the menu.
Kam Ellington has worked at the bakery for over six months and says "Everything is good here, everything."
The bakery not only sells retail to local patrons, but also does over $1 million in wholesale sales, helping 5- star hotels across the state of Utah. Pierre Country Bakery is located at 3239 East 3300 South, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
