Phox's Debut Album

The new indie pop band Phox just dropped their self-titled debut and it’s nothing short of magical. The six member group hauls from Baraboo, Wisconsin and features a blues meets folk sound that is both methodical and captivating.

Last year Phox experienced great success for their acclaimed EP "Confetti" as well as the videos that they released for each track. Adding the band’s grouping hype was their crowd drawing performances at both South by Southwest and Lollapalooza. The year Phox is poised to surpass last year’s success with their first album and their North American tour.

Phox’s debut album is a stand out hit for many reasons not least of which being the dreamy vocal style of lead singer Monica Martin. Martin’s delivery truly grips her listeners, her slow and hypnotic tones are reminiscent of the flow of jazz vocalist.

In addition, Martin’s poetic and meaningful lyrics puts her on par with the great folk/country story tellers. The mystical quality of her voice is similar to that of Natasha Khan {Bat of Lashes) but make no mistake Martin has a singular style. Another component of the makes this such a standout album is the beauty of the instrumentals who’s haunting melody perfectly frame Martin’s angelic voice.

Phox’s just kicked off their North American tour and dates can be found at their website With all their live performances gaining such critical acclaim their tour should be nothing short of remarkable. Phox’s self-titled album is available for download at iTunes be sure to check out this amazing LP.
