On November 1, 2013, the African American Museum of Art attracted a crowd of young professionals from the Philadelphia area for the stylish and very popular Philly Wine Mixer. The Philly Wine Mixer is best known for hosting an event with unlimited wine in various flavors and hors d’ouvres for the attendees. At these events, hosted by Live in the Moment Marketing group, founded by Tyrone Dixon a.k.a. T-Dot, a fashion designer, artist, and musical artist put on presentations to both entertain and inform the crowd of who they are in this wonderful city. These events are held on the first Friday of the month and are growing with popularity amongst the creative and professional crowd in the city of brotherly love.
At last nights event, the crowd received a double dose of entertainment and fashion from Philly’s best. To kick off the event, guests were both networking and socializing on all three levels open in the museum. All who attended had the opportunity to view the art on display in the museum as well as check out the vendors in the building. The brand Abstract Thought was amongst the vendors, with their “Qualitative Thinking” collection which is full of thought provoking and dope designs.
There was certainly no shortage of entertainment or wine at the Philly Wine Mixer, with DJ Hollywood on the turntables and music by Philly’s own and highly talented Chase Allen. Everyone who attended received a copy of Chase Allen's cd, “Follow the Leader Tunnel Vision.” As the evening went on, there was an awards ceremony where Philly artist Ivben Taqiy, singer Jade Alston, and fashion designer Brittany Deshields were honored for their hard work, dedication, and progression in their respective fields.
The night ended on a high note with fashion showcases from Shavonne DeAnn, Dahnistry, Tay Modisch and stylist Tash Banks. Shavonne DeAnn’s line was full of deep grays and black hues for the season, as well as surprise colors and cuts in the creatively designed garments. The line Dahnistry, truly put on a show with bold pieces and fierce looks for the fall season. Fashion designer, Tay Modisch showed his line of clothing for men full of leather and rich hues for the stylish man. The featured stylist of the night, Tash Banks, wowed the crowd with her unique looks, pairing white with plaid and denim, certainly a trend that will catch on quickly this season.
