Finally, a blow-out to go with no appointment necessary and open seven days a week- yes please! BLO/OUT, Philadelphia’s own dry bar has opened its first boutique in the heart of Rittenhouse. As you ascend the stairs, the two floor space is decorated in pink and white boudoir furniture. It’s like you walked into a French dressing room, with large white mirrors, rows of wash bowls, and styling chairs- approximately thirty customers at a time can be serviced. You are greeted by a friendly staff of stylists ready to transform your rue into the blowout of your dreams. In less than forty minutes, each stylist is trained to give you one of several styles, including the Astoria, the Emma or the Blair. No cut and color services are provided, but the thirty plus styling chairs and over ten shiny wash bowls account for the no wait times. Just come in sit down, have a glass of wine or champagne, or a cup of tea, and get made-over before an event or a night out on the town! Owner Avi Shenkar says there are plans opening several more Blo/Out salons in center city, including one in a popular hotel and around the Washington Square West area. Avi said he saw a business opportunity and took into consideration the highly popular dry bars in New York and LA, thus deciding to bring that idea and the brand to Philadelphia. He hopes that Blo/Out will be the destination of choice for many women on the go! While I visited the salon, lingerie designer, Ari Dein, was there getting a blow out for her own trunk show being held a few doors down the street at Hope Chest. As a native New Yorker and avid traveler, Ari says that drybars have been her savior! It’s true, for fashionistas on the go in center city Philadelphia, Blo Out proves to be a place of beauty. In the midst of award and gala season, stop by Blo/Out for a quick hair transformation. Look out for their next bridal event in March.
