Perez Hilton returned to SXSW with the sixth installment of his 'One Night In Austin' concert series, which was held at Austin Music Hall on Saturday, March 16th.
The event successfully raised $53,000 for charity. Ticket proceeds benefitted The VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education in America's public schools and GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring safe schools for all and creating a world in which every child learns to respect and accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. The event was well attended and a crowd gathered in front of the venue, waiting in a line hoping to get inside to see the bands that performed.
This year’s concert was topped off with a special performance by Fall Out Boy. 'One Night In Austin' also included showcases by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Lissie, Paloma Faith, Stooshe, Charli XCX, Brooke Candy, Angel Haze, Capital Cities, Wynter Gordon, Kerli and Foxes. Perez was excited when Zac Efron made a surprise appearance backstage.
Perez Hilton thanked his sponsors BMF Media, VH1, Strongbow, Tito's, Vita Coco, TY KU Premium Sake & Spirits and Tic Tac for helping him to raise a significant amount for charity. Perez said that he looks forward to hosting next year's event here in Austin during SXSW.
