It's October, and October means Halloween! Ah Halloween, the time for whimsy and artifice. This spooky season, author-artist Greg Stones has a book that's sure to tickle the funny bones of all you literary trick-or-treaters.
The name? Penguins Hate Stuff. Just the title alone is enough to tell you that this is not your average coffee-table book. As in, guests will actually read this one. And enjoy it! Bite-size (excuse me, fun size) but full of bang for your buck - or in this case, book - Penguins Hate Stuff is a series of Stones's graphic realism-con-comic-style artwork complemented by a goody bag of words, sometimes no more than a punch-line caption.
With a book that's got yetis and zombies and mermaids and penguins, Stones certainly keeps readers eagerly turning those pages to find out just what is coming next!
If one book isn't enough to sate your bibliophilic sweet tooth, Stones has a couple more already out. But savor them slowly! When this Book Examiner met up with Stones back in September, he confessed that while he'd sent off another set of original prints to his publisher for compilation into another nugget, the publisher had never received them - the post office lost them!
Talk about scary.
