Patricia Cornwell continues the Kay Scarpetta story in a mediocre way! Dust by Patricia Cornwell is one of the most average of the Kay Scarpetta novels. Scarpetta is met with gruesome deaths, as usual. She is met with resistance from the FBI; the organization for which her husband works. She is met with some of the most complex pieces of evidence she has dealt with. She is met with evil intent from the evil as well as those who are tasked with protecting all from those evils. However she seems lost as to how to handle it.
As the story progresses Cornwell attempts to draw the reader deeper into Scarpetta's mind, but Kay Scarpetta is definitely not on her game. The story begins with details of Scarpetta's bout with the flu and perhaps that can explain the slow progression of the story.
This is typically a highly recommended author, with much anticipated releases of her continuance of the Scarpetta series. This simply falls flat.
