Patelli's, Yorkville

Opened in December of 2011, Patelli’s becomes the latest in Yorkville’s growing landscape of culinary offerings. Patelli’s boasts a diverse menu of gyros, burgers, Italian beef, hot dogs, paninis, wraps, and ice cream. Like a medical specialist might focus on a specific concentration, Patelli’s looks to capitalize by offering a focused, specific menu segment in order to provide a superior product to other places that might offer such diversity that they lack the ability to specialize in any of it. This is definitely an attribute to be appreciated, and the result is an outstanding product that such attention to detail produces.

Patelli’s focused menu is beef-centric with burgers, beef, steak, and pure beef hot dogs at the core. The Italian beef is precisely what would be expected from an establishment offering a superior product. The seasoning is rich and flavorful, the meat is juicy and plentiful – a hearty sandwich on fresh bread, satisfying, juicy, and filling. A key component of a focused menu is the freshness factor as a result of relatively quick turn-around time ; menu items are received fresh and subsequently served fresh.

Patelli’s offers regular and chicken gyros from $5 to $9, and options include rice pilaf or the standard fries / drink combo. Burgers are made fresh to order and range from $4 for a patty melt on Rye or regular cheeseburger, to $5 to $6 for a mega, Jalapeno, or BBQ Bacon cheeseburger. Italian beef sandwiches are available in two sizes from $5 to $7 for the “mega beef.” Italian sausage and combos, as well as a Philly Cheesesteak are also available. Hot dogs range from around $2 to $3 and are available as regular, chili, cheese, chili cheese, corn dog, or even a Polish sausage. Chicken and fish, Paninis, wraps, and salads complete the menu selection from $3 for a cheese Panini, to $8 for fish and chips, $4 to $8 salads, and $4 to $5 wraps. A kid’s meal section is also available which includes fries and a drink for under $4. All sandwiches can be upgraded to a “meal” with fries, onion rings, or a drink for an additional $2 to $3, not uncommon for a typical sandwich-shop offering. Patelli’s also offers hand-dipped ice cream and ice cream sundaes, malts, and smoothies.

Patelli’s is located at the corner of Route 34 (Veterans Parkway) and Cannonball Trail (in the space formerly occupied by Tacos Tacos Tacos). The address is 1411 Cannonball Trail, Yorkville, IL. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. They offer carry-out or dine-in. The dining room is large and inviting, and the movie posters give a memorabilia-like, authentic atmosphere. The phone number is 630-553-9620.

As a quick-serve burger / beef / hot dog restaurant, Patelli’s provides an excellent product as would be expected from an establishment looking to specialize in specific-menu offerings. Price, quality, and portion are all in line with expectations, and meet expectations. Cleanliness 4.5/5. Service 4/5. Quality 4/5. Overall 4/5 – a definite must-try.
