Paranormal film review: 'Army of Darkness'

"Army of Darkness," is a fun movie, it's the more lighthearted film from the "Evil Dead" series. One of the taglines to the movie was, "Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas." Anyway once again Bruce Campbell is back as Ash Williams but this time he's back in the Medieval Age around the 1300s. He has to battle the undead so he can come back to the present. Once again in the movie there is Evil Ash, an witch and other otherworldly creatures. Director, Sam Raimi gave respect to special effects master, Ray Harryhausen in the movie. There is a scene with skeletons that comes right out of "Jason and Argonauts." It's a nice tribute.

Ash: Gimme some sugar, baby.

Ash: Hail to the king, baby.

This movie does have it's laughs, it's a funny horror movie that is cheesy but yet it's good at the same time. The online liners in the movie are priceless and once again Bruce Campbell is great. The scene with the Mini Ashes was something else. When Ash can't remember all the words to the Necronomicon (he's suppose to the chosen one) is just shows that this movie is not meant to be take seriously but it's suppose to be fun. (Quotes from the scene are below) The Evil Witch though is sort of scary but other than that, not many scenes are as terrifying as the first and second movie. This one is a lot more fun, don't take it seriously!

Wiseman: When you removed the book from the cradle, did you speak the words?
Ash: Yeah, basically.
Wiseman: Did you speak the exact words?
Ash: Look, maybe I didn't say every single little tiny syllable, no. But basically I said them, yeah.

Ash: Hello she-bitch, this is my Boomstick

So one can say that "Army of Darkness," is a great addiction to the trilogy. By the way for an interesting fact, you will see Bridgett Fonda in the movie, she starred as Linda. Whoever is looking for a horror comedy that has some of the best lines, then "Army of Darkness" is that movie. For all of it's cheesy scenes this is a great movie and it deserves 4 stars just like "Evil Dead 2."
