The long awaited release of the 3.1 Phillip Lim fashion collection for Target finally hit stores on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Pure pandemonium ensued as Dallas fashonistas lined up at area Target stores well before doors opened at 8:00 a.m. to experience the highly anticipated collection from the notorious fashion designer.
Immediately when the doors opened, Target employees described the madness to that of the Black Friday craze as fashionistas rushed towards the Phillip Lim display and piled mounds and mounds of clothing in their shopping carts sky high.
The collection featured animal print styles in bright mustard and navy color palettes along with floral print dresses, peplum blouses and skirts. The talented designer even had fun and trendy pop-art sweaters and sweater dresses to diversify the collection. To complete the looks, Phillip Lim introduced several cross-body bags and an animal print scarf to accessorize with the collective designs. Every piece in the collection was indicative of the designer in exceptional quality, versatility and style.
Price ranges for the pieces ranged from $19.99 to $49.99 which is a steal for designer fashions at Target. This isn't the first time that Target has partnered with a notable fashion designer for a limited collection. Just earlier this year, the Prabal Gurung for Target collection was released and reportedly sold out nationwide in Target stores in just two days.
For those that missed out on all of the action, you may just be straight out of luck. Dallas Target stores are already low in stock and some of the early risers who made it to Target early are already reselling the Phillip Lim items on eBay and Craigslist for a mark-up between 50-100%. Despite this obvious form of consumer abuse, there are still items available on the Target website but only for a limited time.
The 3.1 Phillip Lim collection for Target was everything that everyone was hoping for and more. The standard is now set extremely high for the next fashion designer collaboration as Target continues to restore consumers' faith in the retail industry. In any event, with the successful launches of these limited collections, fashion enthusiasts now have something to look forward to season after season.
(Just at 8:00PM, Dallas area Targets report that the 3.1 Phillip Lim handbags and scarves at the majority of the stores have sold out.)
