In K-Town, pretty much any strip mall you go to has some sort of Korean BBQ joint in it. With so many out there, it's sometimes difficult to find that diamond in the rough. Look no further than Palsaik Korean BBQ!
When you walk in the door, you'll first notice the clean, modern look of the restaurant. Each table has its own built in grill and burner. As you're seated, you'll be greeted with beverages and a few banchan (small side dishes that accompany the meal) such as salad, pickled daikon radish, and red bean paste. While you nibble on these delicious offerings, you'll also place your main order. The most popular choice is the 8 Flavors of Pork.
Palsaik lovingly marinates strips of pork belly, and fries them right at the table in front of you. They feature such flavors as Ginseng, Miso, Wine, Garlic, Curry, Hot, Herb, and Original. The strips are about a foot long and a centimeter thick, with the width of normal strip of bacon. The waitress then cuts the strips into manageable bites you can snag them right off the grill with your chop sticks. Each piece is juicy and tender. It melts in the mouth.
Off to the side, they've also put a spicy seafood soup on to boil. It contains shrimp, mussels, clam, octopus along with some onion and zucchini. It has a rich, spicy broth that makes you glad they brought some water over too. Spice lovers should not overlook this dish. If you got any room left in your belly at this point, they also use a little of the soup liquid to make a kimchi fried rice that can please even the most discerning palate.
Palsaik has great food, a great atmosphere, and great service. It is a cut above the rest, when it comes to Korean BBQ. If you're in the area, you should add this to your list of things to do. It's an interesting experience that everyone should try at least once (if not often).
