Chef Stormy and I had the distinct pleasure of releasing our inner creative beasts the other night for my birthday! Yes, it is sad that I turned 46 years old but that is a story for another day.
Anyhow, (anyway) it was a surprise birthday present for me - which I realized as we turned into a shopping center at 4724 Sharon Road and walked up to Suite J. As soon as I saw the sign up above, Painting with a Twist, I was excited!
WOW, what a terrific birthday gift this was going to be!
As far as I can tell, Painting with a Twist, Is new to the Charlotte area and just getting started with Tara Fitzgerald - who is the owner. She's a nice person who enjoys talking with folks and encourages people to bring wine and cheese or crackers with them. Essentially what you will be doing for the evening is creating a masterpiece from some type of famed painter.
For my birthday there were several people in the class (most likely over 20) and divided up into two rooms and each doing a different painting.
Our instructor was Matt Slaughter. He was a terrific guy and put, "Mattitude," up onto the wall for his name as the class came in and started to assemble. He runs his class Much like we run our Culinary Institute, instructors make fun of themselves, put others at ease and everyone gets a chance to laugh a lot!
Of course my favorite paintings of the evening were the many on the walls that showcase all types of cheese, wine, fruit bowls and tons and tons of food items. For you many cooks, bakers and chefs out there - you'll just love Painting with a Twist!
