Ip Man is a Chinese legend. Best known as the first instructor to Bruce Lee, Man was a master of the Wing Chung school of martial arts. He was instrumental in uniting the Northern and Southern provinces of China, while it struggled with its second Japanese invasion.
Ip Man has been the subject of many Chinese films. Most recently, martial artist extraordinaire Donnie Yen played the role. This time, Tony Leung takes the mantel with a bit more serious tone.
My online review of "The Grandmaster" is attached. It highlights several of the action sequences between Leung and co-star Zhang Ziyi. You can find the OUTTAKES report card for this movie on this same Examiner page.
