Woody Allen is one of the best filmmakers in Hollywood, according to film critic and friend Ed Blank. Unfortunately, Ed and I seldom agree on anything when it comes to movies. Allen is either putting himself into roles he shouldn't play, or refusing to add a concluding scene to provide closure to his work. Ed said "Blue Jasmine" was one of the four best films he has seen this year, yet he gave it only three out of five stars. Does that serve as enough commentary for Hollywood's production endeavors?
Attached is the online version of my review for "Blue Jasmine". It is taken from show 499; the final episode before the historic 500th. The official OUTTAKES report card on this film can be found on this same Examiner page.
